Gretchen McClelland, LMHC, MHP

Hello there! Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my work.

With years of experience working in the medical field; including crisis centers, hospitals, Evaluation and Treatment centers, skilled nursing facilities, and other clinical settings, I’ve gained valuable knowledge and skills. I’m truly passionate about supporting others on their journey to promote well-being, managing emotional distress, and rediscovering hope.

My approach to therapy is holistic, strength-based, and goal-oriented, which means that I work collaboratively with you to identify your unique strengths and use those strengths to overcome challenges. I have experience working with people from all walks of life, and I offer a range of services that include Motivational Interviewing, CPT, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Mindfulness, strength-based, trauma-focused, and solution-focused therapies. In addition, I offer ADD/ADHD assessments and am skilled in areas of neurodivergence.

My main goal is to be there for you during life’s tough moments and help you regain a sense of stability, connection, and hope. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space for all who have felt unheard, unseen, or undervalued in their lives and help them find meaning, purpose, and balance.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my work. I’m excited to get to know you better and support you on your journey to well-being.

My Journey

My journey is what has shaped my approach to counseling.

Before I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2006, I was a facilitator of grief and loss groups for families who had been impacted by cancer. During this time, I gained valuable insight working with foster children, youth, and their families.

After completing my degree, I was privileged to travel to West Africa and provide trauma therapy to ex-child soldiers and first responders. This experience was incredibly meaningful to me, and I was able to return several times over the years, developing lasting friendships within the community.

As a Washington native, I’m committed to fostering growth and involvement within our local community. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked with a diverse range of individuals in a variety of roles, from serving adults, veterans, youth, and children in inpatient and outpatient settings, to providing support during acute and chronic mental health crises. I’ve also held various leadership positions, working within teams to support those in need.

Above all, I have a deep passion for serving others and learning from their unique experiences. Community is at the heart of all that I do, and I believe that connection and support are essential to overall well-being. In the past three years, the pandemic has been isolating for so many of us. I hope to help others reconnect with themselves, their relationships, and their community.

Let’s work together.
